Eliminationism! The new liberal conspiracy.
By Richard Okelberry (Note: This Post was originally published at KVNU’s, For the People Blog.)
I ran into this post by Jeff Bell at his web site where he published the following video along with the simple statement,
“I caught this over on Crooks and Liars and, frankly, it’s so damn good I have to share it -.” – Jeff Bell
The video is talking about a theoretical formula or process called Eliminationism (made up word) used by “right wing HATE talkers” to “appeal to the most fearful and intellectually challenged portion of a listening audience” then “dehumanize, demonize and objectify” a specific target.
I find it more than a little ironic that the very technique being spoken about in this video is being used by it’s creators to influence those on the left. While I doubt seriously that any of the right wing talkers out there have ever conspired to use this formula as suggested in the video, by Jim Bell’s posted support for it, it definitely seems to be effective.
NOTE: The video talks about using this technique to purposely influence people to act out violently. I would never imply that Jim Bell is capable of such violence. I am only pointing out how easily people can be influence. Take notice of how the creators of the video regularly use the term Hate Talkers to refer to conservative talk show hosts. This definately sounds like an attempt to “dehumanize, demonize and objectify” a specific target.
